Neurofeedback

018Neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback, is a method of training the brain by providing a client with real-time feedback on his/her own brainwave activity. 3 tiny sensors (smaller than the size of a dime) are placed on the scalp and transmit brainwave patterns to a computer, where monitor screen images change in accordance with brain activity. Over time, the brain recognizes the changing screen patterns as a reflection of its own internal state and self-regulates accordingly.

Neurofeedback is safe and painless and has demonstrated effectiveness for a variety of conditions, including:

  • Migraine headaches
  • Anxiety
  • Panic disorder
  • Depression
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder
  • Tics
  • Tourette’s syndrome
  • Chronic pain
  • Problems with attention and focus
  • Obsessive thoughts and behaviors
  • Mood disorders
  • Substance dependence
